Death & Aftermath
Joseph Stalin's health slowly worsened during the end of World War II, from heavy smoking to atherosclerosis, and suffered tho heart attacks in the Victory Parade and in October 1945. On March 1, 1953, after a party, Joseph arrived at his palace, and retired to his room. In the morning, Stalin did not emerge from his room, and the guards outside his room got worried, but had strict orders to not enter. Around noon, Peter Lonzgachez entered Stalin's room, and saw Joseph lying on his bed, unable to talk. After being in bed for some days later, the bed-ridden Joseph died four days later.
After Joseph Stalin's death there was a rush for his power. People fought and died for the position of being a leader. In the end, Nikita Khrushchev won the position as the head ruler of Russia. He also used force to control what happened to Russia. It wasn't as brutal, however a new era was to come.
Today Stalin's grave is buried at the Kremlin Wall Necropolis in Moscow where many of the pro-Bolsheviks are buried including Vladimir Lenin. Burials in this place began in 1917, when many victims of the Russian Revolution were buried in Red Square.
