Russian Revolution
Starting from the 1900's the Bolshevik party started to seize power in Russia. Staying in Tiflis, Stalin decided to help fund the Bolshevik party through criminal activities. These acts were bank heists, kidnapping, and murder. During the years of 1902-1913, Stalin was arrested multiple times and was sent to Siberia, but he managed to escaped for the amount of times he was sent to exile. In the year 1912, Stalin was told to serve in the first central committee of the Bolshevik which gave him more power than before. Even though he knew he would be in grave danger, he still decided to fund the party.
One example of his criminal acts is the 1907 Tiflis bank robbery with fifty people dead and over 250,000 rubles stolen. (3985.69 US dollars at the time)
In February, 1917 the revolution began. In April, the leader of the Bolshevik party, Vladimir Lenin announced that the poor should rise up and take control by seizing land from the rich and factories from the industrialists.
"Workers and peasants, working and exploited people! The land, the banks and the factories have now become the property of the entire people! You yourselves must set to work to take account of and control the production and distribution of products—this, and this alone is the road to the victory of socialism, the only guarantee of its victory, the guarantee of victory over all exploitation, overall poverty and want! "
- Vladimir Lenin
By October, the revolution was complete and the Bolshevik was in complete control of Russia. Vladimir Lenin became the first dictator of Russia. His government made peace with the Germans trying to avoid conflict as much as possible, but in the beginning of 1918, there was a civil war against the Anti - Bolsheviks White Army. In this war, Stalin formed alliances with many powerful leaders in Russia, while leading troops in battles. Since Stalin didn't control over much power at this time compared to Lenin, the Russian Civil War was a conflict mainly between Lenin's Red Army and the White Army. In 1920, Vladimir Lenin's Red Army had crushed the White Army and won the Civil War
